Company Founder -
Gil Weiss
Gil Weiss has spent his entire working life in the Motor Vehicle Industry. It started with eight years in the auto service business. In 1982 Gil and two partners opened a Honda Motorcycle and Power Equipment dealership. Gil sold his interest in the dealership he ran for eight years and began his career in the retail automobile business.
Beginning with a sales position selling Honda cars at what was then the largest volume Honda dealership in America, he grew into the position of in-house Training Manager. He was subsequently recruited to design and run a training program while also having sales management duties for what would soon become the Washington D.C. Region’s number one Ford Dealership.
In 2001, Gil began marketing training services to individual dealerships and dealer groups. The company has provided training for some of the largest dealer groups in the country including the Penske Auto Group and the Hendrick Auto Group. Gil Weiss & Associates provides sales & product training for auto, truck, and motorcycle dealerships representing most American, Asian, and European brands.
In 2003, the company developed a one-week, new-hire training program for salespeople new to the industry.
In 2005 Ford Motor Company, Washington Region, solicited Gil Weiss & Associates to co-develop a one-week training course to teach the fundamentals of commercial truck, business to business sales and marketing. The program was so successful that other Ford Regions began requesting classes. Most of the Ford regions in the United States have now held these classes. This has led to numerous other speaking engagements for Ford Motor Company for both the commercial truck and retail car and truck divisions.
In 2006 Gil began expanding by hiring two full time trainers because of the opportunity to do more work for Ford Motor Company and new business for the Central Atlantic Region of Toyota Motor Sales. Both Karl Fauss and Warren Wantz are with the company today ensuring the highest quality standards.
In 2007, sales, parts, and service training seminars for Motorcycle and Watercraft dealers were developed and have now expanded to a one-week new-hire training program for power-sport salespeople.
Recently, Gil collaborated with Donna Bauer, an accomplished national speaker who provides training for real estate investing. Together they created a self study course titled “Negotiating is not a Contact Sport”. Gil and Donna speak together and separately at events all over the country.
In 2010 Gil joined NADA as Director of Curriculum Developement and sold the company. The company now does business as "The Automotive Training Team, LLC" and continues the standard of excellence it is known for.
